Today we’d like to take a moment to discuss dessert. What exactly is a dessert? Does it have to be sugary? Or coated with chocolate? According to Webster’s New World Dictionary, a dessert is simply the final course of a meal.
While one typically thinks of cakes, pies, cookies and candies, we are offering a healthier choice to the St. Catherine’s community. Five days a week, we offer low fat and nonfat yogurts with a variety of fresh toppings. Raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, peach slices, dried fruits, and granola make for a fabulous finale to any meal.
For all those who still desire a sweet treat, we do offer Meriwether Godsey signature desserts. On Tuesdays and Fridays, we are serving our “scratch baked” cookies, Whoopie pies, cupcakes, and Apple Brown Betty to name a few. We are really having fun rediscovering old recipes and sharing them with you. Please let us know if you have a favorite recipe you’d like us to prepare.
