How much snow have we had?
And did I hear somebody say March will bring more?

That whining sounds like white winter blues.  Of course, it now has an official name:  SAD (that’s appropriate). Seasonal Affective Disorder.  I think they should rename it “normal” (at least for those of us living on the east coast for winter 09-10).

Just how bad has it been?  Bad enough to fill the airwaves with new slang like“snowverkill” and “snowmageddon” and “snowpocalypse.”  Here are some statistics that speak for themselves.

If it’s even conceivable that we might get more, now that what we have is finally melting, this article has some good tips on how to fight our way out of SAD, to include my favorite: “constructive attitude adjustment.”

The truth is…the same things that help us with WWB (White Winter Blues) help us in EVERY season, to include the seasons of our lives:  exercise (which includes dancing in your kitchen), balanced diet (and less alcohol), and social interaction (laughing with friends).   If you’re watching your snow melt (kind of like watching your grass grow), enjoy. And if the sidewalk is clear – get off the couch and take yourself for a walk.
