Maybe January is the logical time to think “I wonder what the hot new food trend will be for this year?”  But January comes and goes in such a haze, doesn’t it?

As a company of foodies – led by Foodie Numero Uno, Rie Godsey, we are always thinking about trends.  Of course, in our minds, we are setting the trends.  For example, according to our records, we invented station cooking and whoopie pies.  

Curious to see what others were saying about this subject, I started with Google.Yelp has an ongoing conversation about this topic.  Some picks I found shareworthy:  Designer PB&J, Corn Dogs, Deep Southern Comfort Foods, Bologna, Brazilian BBQ, Pickles…and….“Umami” which is being called the 5th sense.  Admittedly, I was not all that familiar with this term.  But, you can read more about it here.  Think things like parmesan cheese, bacon, ripe tomatoes – all umami-fied foods (pretty sure that’s not a word).

And while I was wandering this trail of trends and umami, I was led to “Umamigirl” and this yummy looking Marinated Goat Cheese appetizer.  Another successful research project in the bag!
