Recently on a shopping trip to farmbasket, I put some lovely plants on hold.  When I went to purchase my items (along with a container of my favorite pimento cheese) the items were listed on hold for “Oliver’s Mom.”  That really made me laugh, as it appeared that my oldest son made a name for himself at the farmbasket.  Thanks to a major pregnancy craving for The Veggie Wrap sandwich, Oliver & I made multiple trips to farmbasket during my 2nd pregnancy.  We often would journey to the store, browse around a bit (doing my best to keep Oliver from breaking the beautiful glass items) and enjoy a tasty lunch.

My personal farmbasket favorites are the egg salad sandwich, the veggie wrap (of course) and the pimento cheese sandwich (not the healthiest choice, but nonetheless delicious).  Oliver of course always chose the peanut butter & jelly sandwich (on whole wheat bread at least) and of course on special days, a scoop of Mountain Frost ice cream.  On that recent shopping trip, I realized how special those little lunches really were.   Oliver & I created memories together centered around one of my favorite activities, eating!  Just the two of us, no distractions to interfere with the food we were eating.  I think back to my childhood and how many happy memories were formed during mealtime --- like our traditional Sunday pasta dinners, the Italian Christmas Eve 7 fish dinner (a Pisciuneri tradition) & warm summer nights at Handel’s Ice Cream parlor. Indeed, many happy memories are centered on food.  Hopefully, as Oliver’s tastes mature, we will be able to create new memories & enjoy more adventurous cuisine.  Perhaps he will share his mother’s fondness of Vietnamese and other international cuisine (am I pushing my luck)?
