What MG Culture Means to Me...
Peggy AndersonTraveling Director
When asked this question – I think of Rie and her style. My next question is will Rie be pleased with this? MG culture is not being satisfied – going the extra mile...giving the pickle (from “Give them the Pickle” video on customer service).

Growing and adapting while remaining true to core values. An organization with confidence in the ability of their people. A collection of people with similar backgrounds. Where jokes fly and people laugh cause we’ve all experienced similar things. It doesn’t matter that you’re from NJ or FL or Miss – you’re in food service and we’re all family.
Scott JeffriesDirector/Executive Chef
MG is an eclectic group of foodies and family that just have that hospitality “CURSE”. The curse = working crazy hours, sometimes little pay, moving mountains for clients, doing the almost impossible, etc.

During the early years I was fortunate to find management personnel who were as passionate about food and dining as I am. Many of them are still with MG today. Rie Godsey
Marie “Rie” Meriwether Godsey, President Like many young people, Rie and her husband, Eddie, found their first jobs in food service - Eddie as a dishwasher and Rie as a server. Food and dining soon became a passion and Meriwether Godsey was created in response to Rie and Eddie’s growing concern that the major food service contractors were more focused on "standardization" and less on hospitality and customization. From its 2-account start to serving nearly 40 partners, MG has retained its philosophy: integrity and value along side wonderful food and service, regardless of the size of the client budget. MG continues to grow carefully and responsibly so each partnership has personalized attention, including from Rie. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Don Beck, Chief Financial Officer & Chief Information Officer Don received a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Wittenburg University (1978), but like several members of the team, pursued as a career the avocation that helped put him through school. As a General Manager for Steak & Ale and then as the Food and Beverage Director for a full service hotel, he developed a keen interest in and appreciation for a systematic approach to every aspect of the food service business. That systematic approach was further refined as Don moved into the health care and continuing care fields. Don came to Meriwether Godsey in 1994 and was initially in operations. Fiscal responsibility and savvy linked with his years of front line operational experience make him an outstanding resource for our clients. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. After nearly 20 years with MG, Sara’s commitment is the same --- to high ethical standards and to being a “partner” instead of a “vendor.” Sara’s systematic, “drumbeat” approach to training combined with her varied experience and knowledge of the industry have made her an extremely effective District Manager. Sara has a rare ability to quickly assess the client culture, and assimilate Meriwether Godsey’s standards to achieve the right fit. She is adamant about training new management in the MG way, thoroughly and completely, no matter how much experience they have had elsewhere.

Like many others, Becky began her career in food service as a college student - working for Rie who was then the Food Service Director at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. Becky continued to work with Rie after college (R-MWC 1981) and has been with Meriwether Godsey since its inception, first in operations and then as a corporate administrator. Becky’s twenty-eight years of experience in the food service industry have included a significant emphasis on presentation - many of the contributions are subtle, but as part of the overall package they help set Meriwether Godsey and its clients apart.
