Having met at Guilford for more than 20 years, the SEC was "wowed". If you haven't yet had the opportunity to eat in the dining hall, I encourage you to stop in and see what you are missing! You, too, will be "wowed".

Food never tasted so good

Meals are not just about eating – they are an experience and it's our job to make them memorable, tasty, and fun.  Our dining rooms are supposed to be exciting, super-satisfying places to be, and we will work and smile harder than anyone else in this industry to make sure that is so.

Choices

Each day, we will serve lots of hungry people throughout our communities.  Just like it’s our job to make the food exciting, it’s our job to make sure there’s something for everyone – regardless of culture, age, dietary restrictions or personal preferences.  This means we are constantly learning, watching, refining, experimenting and many of our ideas come from you.

Feedback:  the breakfast of champions

We have a “tell us what you think” culture.  You are hungry for what we’re cooking and we’re hungry for what you think.  Ultimately, our relationships with people which foster candid feedback, allow us to provide a better service.

Our menus

We designed our menus to be customizable without losing efficiencies. Our approach cues our staff to plan and serve balanced, variety-filled selections each day. It simplifies tasks and removes redundancies allowing more time for creativity, sourcing and our guests. We encourage our Chefs to make substitutions to incorporate local ingredients, to adjust for inventory shortages or overages, and to add a splash at the kitchen’s pleasure or yours.

Balance

Our Corporate Dietitian is part of our menu task force which includes chefs and senior leaders.  The goal is to assure our menus are both pleasing and healthful. We serve as a nutrition resource within our communities, helping address specific needs and concerns with the most up-to-date information.

Local

Our first choice is to use the freshest, healthiest, and nearest ingredients. We prefer regional providers as much as possible, thus reducing the impact of long distance deliveries on our natural resources and promoting food safety and integrity. Best of all, products that mature in the field and spend less time on the shelf really do taste better and are better for us.
