At Meriwether Godsey, we support the goals of responsible and conscious consumerism. In our industry we are faced with many decisions concerning what we serve and how we serve it. We see these decisions as opportunities to make choices that are environmentally and economically sustainable. Food services are notorious for waste. Where there is so much waste, there is also the opportunity to make a difference through our practices and standards. Our goal is to use sensible, eco-friendly strategies that balance environmental responsibility with each client's needs and preferences.
Food the Right Way
Meriwether Godsey's first choice is to use the freshest, healthiest, and nearest ingredients. We prefer regional providers as much as possible, thus reducing the impact of long distance deliveries on our natural resources and promoting food safety and integrity. Best of all, products that mature in the field and spend less time on the shelf simply taste better.
Serving Sense
We support efforts to use recycleable, renewable, biodegradable and compostable products. A number of our accounts partner with us to select environmentally-friendly products that are right for them.
Cleaning Up
Our goal is to make less waste. Using products that break down easily is a good start, but Meriwether Godsey also encourages innovation in reducing the environmental impact of our dining services. In our "Ugly Mug" Program, for example, members of our client communities contribute mismatched mugs to our coffee stations to be used and returned — reducing the need for disposable cups.
